Saturday morning scones
My favourite weekend treats are scones with orange marmalade! This is a basic scone recipe from Country Tea Parties cookbook:
Basic Scones
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup milk
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly Add milk and blend well; dough will be sticky. Flour a flur surface and knead the dough for bout half a minute. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut into whatever shape you like (triangles are traditional). Bale at 400 F for about 15 minutes.
Yield: 12 scones
* For slight sweetness, add 1/4 cup sugar. For richness, use cream instead of milk You ca also add one egg (decrease milk to 1/2 cup) or increase the amount of butter for richer texture. For variation, you may add raisins, dried currants, nuts, orange or lemon zest, berries, banana, cheese, herbs, spices molasses and even chocolate chips.

Love it...let's have a yummy weekend ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my recipe blog. I don't get many comments, so when I do it gives me a smile. I'm glad you left a comment because you have a really nice blog that I am planning on reading. Your crafts are wonderful. I sure wish I had time, but with 3 small kids the time is just not there, so to be able to see what others are making is fun. I also love scones, but have not been able to make any that I loved. Thanks for the recipe. Take care:)
