Orange Poppy Seed Cookies
Happy weekend!
It's a nice day to bake something fresh and sunshiny--like a batch of Orange Poppy Seed Cookies perhaps? Part tangy, part sweet, each cookie tastes like a bite of sunshine. This recipe is adapted from Simply Recipes. Instead of orange zest, I used orange extract instead.

Orange Poppy Seed Cookies
- 2/3 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter, room temperature
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon orange extract
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Method
1 Beat together butter and sugar until well blended.
2 Add the egg and the orange extract. Beat for thirty seconds and mix well.art way through to ensure even mixing.
3 In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly sift it into the butter mixture until combined. Add the poppy seeds.
4 Place heaping teaspoonfuls on a baking sheet.
5 Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until just turning golden around the edges. Remove from oven.

ReplyDeletethose little paper trays, to die for!
Happy weekend to you xxxx
These sound AMAZING! I'm going to try this for sure. Wonder if I could use orange juice somehow instead of orange extract, though... guess I'll try!
ReplyDeleteSorry I lost touch for a while Christy. I really like the sound of your cookies. I am rather partial to lemon and poppyseed muffins too, so I am sure I would like these. I really like how you have presented them too. x
ReplyDeleteSweet! Your comment is appreciated!
