Recipe: No bake chocolate dream cake
NO BAKE CHOCOLATE DREAM CAKE
(Recipe adapted from Cosmopolitan Magazine PH)
Chocolate dream cakes have been popular lately. These rich, indulgent cakes have a tough chocolate shell topping over a layer of gooey chocolate pudding sitting on a chocolate cake base. These cakes can be pricey if ordered from a bakery. However, you can make one in the comfort of your own home thanks to some clever shortcuts! All you need are the following: a cake tin with lid (these are sold at bakery supply shops), chocolate cake bars of your choice (I used Fudgee Bar, a local brand), dark chocolate bars of your choice (a local brand Goya Dark Chocolate bars work well) and of course baking ingredients that can be found in your pantry. So let's start making our no bake dark chocolate dream cake!
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 6 pieces Fudgee bars or chocolate cake bars of your choice
- 5 bars dark chocolate candy
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 tbsp corn starch
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (extra for dusting)
- Pinch of instant coffee
- Pinch of salt
1. Prepare your cake tin with lid and chocolate cake bars. Arrange the cake bars inside the tin and press well to conform to the shape of the mold.
2. Make chocolate pudding by heating milk on low fire, stir in cornstarch, cocoa powder, salt, coffee and 1 bar of dark chocolate. Whisk continuously until you reach thick, pudding like consistency. Let cool and chill for 15 minutes. Add maraschino cherries. Let the cherries be covered completely by the chocolate pudding. Chill for 30 minutes.
3. Melt 4 bars of dark chocolate candy over low heat. Add to the layer of chilled chocolate pudding. Chill until chocolate topping is firm. Dust with cocoa powder!
Serve chilled! To eat, break the top layer with a spoon and enjoy the gooey chocolate goodness underneath!
